FaZe Vegas denied OpTic Texas a three-peat at CDL Championship 2026, beating the two-time defending champions 5-2 in the grand final on July 20 at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.

How the bracket played out

FaZe Vegas didn’t drop a single series on their way to the title, running the entire upper bracket undefeated — a 3-1 win over G2 Minnesota, a 3-0 sweep of Riyadh Falcons, and a 3-2 win over OpTic Texas in the upper bracket final, before the two teams met again in the grand final. OpTic Texas, playing through the lower bracket after that earlier loss, had already posted back-to-back series wins in Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 6 to force the rematch — but couldn’t complete the reset, falling 5-2 in the best-of-9 decider on Black Ops 7.

Abuzah was a standout for FaZe across the run, posting over 40 kills in a single Search & Destroy-format map on Scar Overload during the series.

Simp’s third ring

Tournament MVP went to Simp, who picked up his third CDL Championship title with the win — putting him in the same company as Crimsix, Clayster, Karma, and Shotzzy as one of the winningest players in league history. For teammates Abuzah and 04, it was their first championship ring.

The prize money

FaZe Vegas took home $800,000 of the $2 million total prize pool for first place, with OpTic Texas earning $480,000 for their runner-up finish.

Why it matters

This was FaZe’s first world championship in five years, and OpTic Texas’s bid to become the first team to three-peat as CDL champions came up just short. With the 2026 season now closed out, FaZe Vegas heads into next year’s Call of Duty League as the team to beat — and OpTic Texas, unbeaten through most of the year, now has a genuine rival at the top instead of a clear run at history.
